About Percy Plate
Built by a small business owner, for small business owners.

Why Percy Plate exists
I'm Heidi Macomber, the founder of Percy Plate. Over the years I've worn a lot of hats as a small business owner, but no matter what I was building, my heart always rooted for the underdog: the entrepreneur chasing an idea they believe in, rolling the dice, and trying to build something real when they're short on time, short on cash, and running mostly on grit.
My background is a mix of business and technology: figuring out how businesses actually work, and how software can help them work a little better. That's how I ended up in software development: it meant I could finally start building fixes for the headaches I'd already lived through.
One of those headaches was food costing. When I joined a small food startup, I got a front-row seat to the chaos behind the counter. Juggling the numbers while trying to keep the lights on was a daily scramble. We needed better tools, but we didn't even know what questions to ask yet.
Years later, I decided to do something about it. That's how Percy Plate was born: an easy-to-use platform that gives small food businesses the tools to finally make sense of food costs, pricing, and margins, without needing a finance degree or an expensive enterprise system built for chains.
Who Percy Plate is for
Food trucks, bakeries and cottage food producers, caterers, coffee shops, pizzerias, and independent restaurants. Anyone running the numbers on their own, without a back-office team to do it for them.

Meet Percy
Percy is the face of Percy Plate. She shows up throughout the app, on the cover of the Food Cost Playbook, and as line art opening every chapter. If you've spent time in the product, you've already met her.
What Percy Plate does
